Trained in law, ethics, and classical violin, Eva Caldera has served as a non-profit leader, grant-maker and government policymaker in Washington, D.C. for more than 15 years. From 2009-2017, Eva served in the leadership of the National Endowment for the Humanities. As NEH Assistant Chair for Partnership and Strategic Initiatives, she conceived and implemented grants and partnerships that supported projects across the nation aimed at bridging divides, cultivating public engagement in the humanities, and strengthening local institutions including humanities councils, libraries and community colleges. Subsequently, she became Chief Operating Officer/Associate Secretary at the Phi Beta Kappa Society, where she managed and modernized operations, growing programs, raising funds, and professionalizing financial operations, while strengthening the organization’s focus on advocacy for higher education. Most recently, she served as chief counsel to a presidentially appointed commissioner at the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the federal agency charged with protecting the public from harmful consumer products.
