Aldrich House, Providence, Rhode Island
Join RI Humanities for a panel conversation with community partners who are working with us on our new Revolutionary Traces Rhode Tour. This special conversation will focus on the ways traces of the Revolution show up in our landscape and built environments, how those commemorations shape our understanding of the period, and what they mean to us today.
The event features a uniquely curated panel of six community partners who will speak to different approaches to commemoration of the Revolutionary period from their perspectives as researchers, performers, educators, authors, and public humanities leaders.
Panelists include: Rebekah Acquah, Linford Fisher, Mikayla Harden, Michelle Lee Leonard, Rebecca Noon, and Lorén Spears. The conversation will be moderated by RI Humanities Executive Director Elizabeth Francis and will feature original photography by RI Humanities board member and Providence College professor of photography Eric Sung.
This event is free and open to the public, registration is required as seating is limited.
This program is part of By the People: Conversations Beyond 250, a series of community-driven programs created by humanities councils in collaboration with local partners. The initiative was developed by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.
