The Flower Festival is all about the importance of native plantings and their cultural impacts. At the festival, we invite local partners to present on the work that they are doing in our local environment, the importance of planting native plants for our pollinators, the convergence of food traditions and the landscape, and celebrating the beauty and diversity of our local ecosystems.
This program is part of By the People: Conversations Beyond 250, a series of community-driven programs created by humanities councils in collaboration with local partners. The initiative was developed by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.
