Snug Harbor Botanical Garden and Cultural Center, Staten Island, New York, New York

On June 17, Humanities New York’s Speaking of Revolution series comes to Staten Island’s Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden. Opening with music from local artist Darrell Smith, In a Different Key uses jazz as a starting point for a Community Conversation about how traditions are carried forward, reshaped, and passed from one generation to the next. The event is presented in partnership with Universal Temple of the Arts as part of the Jazz Is Staten Island series.

This program is part of By the People: Conversations Beyond 250, a series of community-driven programs created by humanities councils in collaboration with local partners. The initiative was developed by the Federation of State Humanities Councils and the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage.
