Shannon (she/her) grew up primarily in Ft. Worth, Texas before relocating to northern Virginia and beginning hospitality work in restaurants, churches, and historical community centers. After graduating from the University of Central Florida Rosen College of Hospitality with a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality she began her event career in Washington D.C. at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She then worked at multiple Smithsonian properties, primarily the Natural History Museum, American Indian Museum, and the Smithsonian Castle. After her time on the National Mall she continued her work as a Catering Director at Corporate Executive Board before joining the Federation team in March of 2009 focusing on all aspects of event planning. Since the beginning of 2020 she has trained new event staff, collaborated on event projects with the Federation team, and serves outside the office with disaster relief efforts across the country.
