The Minnesota Humanities Center will conduct community forums in three communities (Shakopee, Isle/Onamia, and Bemidji) with Native American tribal nations to examine how journalism and democracy intersect in communities with both tribal and non-tribal governments. These forums will bring together journalists, members of the tribes, and community leaders to discuss the way the media has traditionally represented indigenous people and the role it plays in building understanding across cultures and sovereign nations.
