The Federation conducts a limited number of programs that support, extend, and increase the visibility of the work of the state humanities councils. Each spring the Federation conducts a Humanities on the Hill event to allow councils to gather in Washington DC to present their collective message to members of Congress. Our National Humanities Conference each November provides an opportunity for councils to exchange information and ideas about humanities issues and programs as well as administrative and governance practices. Through the Museum on Main Street program councils provide high quality portable exhibitions to rural communities and institutions throughout their states.
