PROGRAM: TILT: An Arts and Humanities Mixer

Presented by:
Indiana Humanities
Subject: Art/Photography, Varies Audience: All

Indiana Humanities, in partnership with the Arts Council of Indianapolis, has reinvented the typical lecture to blend the best of both the arts and humanities worlds. To celebrate National Arts & Humanities month, the two councils are hosting TILT: An Arts & Humanities Mixer on various dates in October.

The two councils have been conducting this mixer since 2015 with a goal of showcasing “the variety of the arts and humanities and [unleashing] the sense of experimentation, fun and thoughtfulness that animates our work.”

Each event in the series will reinvent the traditional lecture, pairing one artist and one humanist to discuss two completely different topics followed by a quirky and highly participatory Q&A from the audience.

Topics from 2016 included:

  • Woolen Trade Blankets and The Birth of Style Writing
  • Mr. Coffee Pot and The Blues/Banjo
  • Sci-Fi Movies and 16-mm Film
