The Maine Humanities Council’s Student Humanities Ambassador program asks students to contemplate whether there is an idea that students should be talking about and then encourages them to learn how to plan and run an event to do just that, talk about it.

According to the council’s website, they are looking for “creative and energetic high school students interested in community engagement through the humanities.” Student ambassadors will work with the council to identify a topic and, working with a $1,000 budget, create, plan, run, and evaluate a humanities-based program or event within their community.

High school students who are Maine residents, as well as homeschoolers and youth clubs, whether in-school or extracurricular, are encouraged to apply.
