The Hawai’i Council for the Humanities created an innovative new discussion program for incarcerated individuals to reflect on current events and talk openly about their thoughts and feelings about the cultural, political, and social issues that define our world today. The program will first be offered at the Women’s Community Correctional Center on O’ahu and consists of eight sessions that discuss a variety of contemporary topics that focus on the theme “Community and Culture.”

Discussions are built around the Motheread/Fatheread approach to self-empowerment.
