The Mississippi Humanities Council presents Public Humanities Awards each February to honor outstanding contributions to the public humanities in Mississippi. All Mississippians are invited to make nominations for these awards by submitting a Public Award nomination form or a Humanities Teacher Award nomination form.

In addition, the Council awards one extraordinary recipient the Cora Norman Award, named for the MHC’s founding director. The Cora Norman Award honors individuals who have made significant lifetime contributions to the public humanities in Mississippi.
