The Next Indiana Bookshelf is a collection of 13 titles that encourage Hoosiers to think, read and talk about the present and future of Indiana. According to the council’s website, the program includes fiction, nonfiction, essays and poetry, as well as titles appropriate for adults, young adults, and kids with each book containing a strong connection to Indiana.

55 sets of the Next Indiana Bookshelf were awarded to libraries, schools, and community organizations across the states. The council collaborated with the Indiana Center for the Book to create the Bookshelf, which is also made possible by grants from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Libraries Services and the Indiana State Library.
