PROGRAM: Florida Book Awards

The Florida Book Awards is a program the council co-sponsors with the Florida State University Libraries, the Florida Center for the Book, the State Library and Archives of Florida, the Florida Historical Society, the Florida Literary Arts Coalition, the Florida Library Association, “Just Read, Florida!”, the Florida Association for Media in Education, the Center for Literature and Theatre @ Miami Dade College, Friends of the Florida State University Libraries, the Florida Writers Association, and the Florida Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America.

The call for submissions of eligible books goes out mid-June and concludes in January. This year the medalists will be announced April 12-13, 2017 in Tallahassee, FL.

The Florida Book Awards was established in 2006 as an annual awards program “to recognize, honor, and celebrate the best work of Florida writers each year,” the Fall 2016 issue of the council’s FORUM magazine states
