PROGRAM: Citizen – An American Lyric Book Discussion Program

Presented by:
Florida Humanities Council
Subject: African American/Black, Cross-Cultural Understanding, History Audience: All

Citizen has been described as “a provocative meditation on race.” Through its beautiful use of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, essays, and memoirs, Citizen brings to light moments of overt and subtle racism that often surface in everyday encounters.

The Citizen discussion group is designed to give participants a safe environment to talk freely and in a non-confrontational manner about their life experiences as they relate to the themes in the text.

The program is tailored to organizations and persons whose work touches upon race-relations, either directly or indirectly, however all members of the public are welcome to attend.
