PROGRAM: Children’s Literature Biennial Conference “Imagining Worlds, Fictional & Real”

Partnering with the Children’s Literature Hawai’i, the council hosted the 18th Biennial Conference on Literature and Hawai’i’s Children, “Imaging Worlds, Fictional & Real,” in June 2016 with a variety of activities exploring the creativity and interpretation of literature for children.

Highlights included:

  • Presentations by acclaimed authors and illustrators
  • Thematic sessions on the meaning and significance of children’s literature
  • Workshops for teens on writing and illustrating stories
  • Free movie screening of Under the Blood Red Sun
  • Crafts and family festivities
