PRIME TIME Teacher institutes introduce teachers to the Socratic Method as a tool for deepening student comprehension of literature and texts. Through classroom discussion, reading and writing assignments, and lesson plan development; teachers enrolled in the institutes learn question-based instructional practices that can be applied to any subject. Institute content is aligned with Louisiana Grade Level Expectations (GLE’s) as well as the newly adopted Common Core State Standards. The Institutesare conducted in partnership with local universities and are led by university professors who are experienced in the PRIME TIME methodology. Participating K-8 teachers receive 3 graduate level credits, 45 Continuing Learning Units (CLU’s), and stipends for successfully completing the Institutes.
