OVERVIEW: Iowa Pulitzer Prizes Centennial Campfires Activities

For their Pulitzer Prize Centennial Campfire programming, Humanities Iowa partnered with Iowa Public Radio (IPR) and the Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism (IowaWatch) to produce a series of radio programs featuring interviews with Pulitzer Prize winners, and with Iowa Public Television (IPTV) to produce a panel discussion focusing on the state of contemporary journalism.

Profiles in Iowa Journalism – aired on IPTV and IPTV World from December 18th to 31st, 2016

This TV program included three pre-recorded short interview videos with a live panel discussion featuring Iowa journalists and photojournalists. The videos focused on Iowa and Pulitzer Prize-related journalism connections, including Michael Gartner and the Ames Daily Tribune editorial, Mary Chind-Willie and photography, and Jane Schorer Meisner’s story with a rape victim. The following panel discussion incorporated more Iowan journalists and editors. The discussion centered on the inspiration and experience behind the prize-winning work and the panel explored many more questions pertaining to modern journalism and the work behind winning a Pulitzer.
