The New Mexico Humanities Council invites history teachers of grades six through twelve to participate in preparing their students for the New Mexico State National History Day Competition. Workshops are given around the state each autumn to help teachers integrate National History Day activities into the curriculum. Regional History Day contests are held annually in the spring, and regional winners compete in the NM state finals in April. The top two finishers in each category at the state contest become eligible to advance to the National History Day competition held each June at the University of Maryland at College Park.
