Explore Indiana’s history by taking in the beer, cocktails, and food that are interlaced with the culture and history of Indiana. These “Crawls” feature actors from the Indiana Historical Society re-imagining important moments in Indiana state history to give participants a glimpse into historic stories and surprising venues around Indianapolis.
In 2017, the fifth annual historic “bar” crawl is themed, “Naptown Get Down: A Groovy, Boozy Tour through 1970s Indianapolis,” and took place on Jun 20 and 21. View the recap on Indiana Humanities’ blog.
In 2016, the council took the “crawl” through Cold War Indianapolis (circa 1948- late-1950s) where “intelligence officer” actors helped train them to be on the lookout for suspicious activities – specifically communist sympathizers trying to infiltrate the heartland.
