The Great Michigan Read is a biennial statewide library program focusing on a humanities theme and aiming to connect Michiganians by deepening understanding of the state, society, and humanity. A statewide panel of teachers, librarians, community leaders, and book lovers select the Great Michigan Read every two years.

The 2017-18 Great Michigan Read title will be selected by seven regional selection committees representing all corners of Michigan. The title will be announced April 2017 with program implementation beginning in the fall.
