The Maine Humanities Council has partnered with the Maine Arts Commission to support programs that combine the arts and humanities in local Maine communities. The range of potential projects under the Arts and Humanities grants is unlimited.
Projects that explore diverse cultures or represent rural areas of the state are recommended. Projects could include a local folk life festival, a community performance of a historical play, a school-based historical mural project, or a project combining oral history and documentary photography.
The deadline to submit the grant application for 2017 is March 23, 2017 with projects beginning no sooner than 8 weeks after these deadlines. Notification of grant award will be within six weeks after the deadline passes.
