PROGRAM: Dorothy Schwartz Forum

Presented by:
Maine Humanities Council
National Partner: NEH Local Partner: Colleges and Universities, Nonprofits, Other Subject: Cross-Cultural Understanding, History, Varies Audience: All

Inaugurated in 2013 in memory of longtime Maine Humanities Council Executive Director Dorothy “Deedee” Schwartz, the Forum explores current topics through the lens of multiple disciplines, primarily the sciences, arts, and (of course!) humanities.

In 2016, the forum was entitled “9/11 and the Creation of Collective Memory,” and featured a film screening and full program that brought in three speakers whose work focused on 9/11 and how it is remembered today. The council partnered with SPACE Gallery in Portland, ME and Bates College Howard Center for Community Partnerships to offer this program free to the public.
