The Smithsonian traveling exhibit Key Ingredients: America By Food (www.keyingredients.org) started its 11-month tour of South Carolina on June 27, 2008. The exhibit opened in Elloree, SC with a well-attended reception and will be on display at the Elloree Heritage Museum (www.elloreemuseum.org) until August 10, 2008. The exhibit will also visit the communities of Belton, Lake City, Johnston, and Edisto Island as well as appearing at the 2008 South Carolina State Fair. Key Ingredients explores how the food we eat connects us to our communities, heritage, and national culture. Each host community has an exciting array of special events planned that will highlight South Carolina foodways and traditions. Key Ingredients is a part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and The Humanities Council SC.
