Introducing the 2017-2021 FSHC Board Candidate Slate

Aug. 9, 2017 – [Arlington, VA] The Federation of State Humanities Councils’ 2017 Nominating Committee announced a slate of three candidates for the Federation board to be brought to the membership for a vote at the annual business meeting in November. This year’s candidates were selected by the committee to fill positions that will be left vacant by retiring board members Kate Stephenson (TN), Ralph Lewin (CA), and Phoebe Stein (MD). These three members have contributed immeasurably to the success of the Federation, with Kate Stephenson serving as chair of the board from 2013 to 2015 and most recently as immediate past chair; Ralph Lewin as chair of the NEH Partnership Committee; and Phoebe Stein as vice chair of the board. We are grateful for their service, contributions, and insights in leading and guiding the Federation.

Candidates for 2017 include:

Julie Fry, president & CEO of California Humanities

Susan McCarthy, author, speaker, and financial advisor

Gloria White Gardner, president of G.W. Gardner & Associates Consulting LLC

Election takes place on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at the Federation’s annual business meeting held in conjunction with the 2017 National Humanities Conference in Boston, MA. Federation board members serve a four-year term.
