Many Americans are troubled by the lack of civility we see too often in politics today. We know that to solve the problems facing Arizona and the Nation, we must find a way to work together collaboratively and respectfully.
In response, Project Civil Discourse is partnering with the leaders of Arizona's political parties and over 20 organizations throughout Arizona to host a civil and respectful town hall about the implications of Prop. 100, the sales tax referendum, which is up for public vote on May 18th.
Arizona's Sales Tax Referendum Town Hall: A Demonstration of Civil Dialogue and Discussion will open with an objective, non-partisan presentation from Peter Burns about the state budget and how the outcome of the sales tax vote will affect Arizona. Participants will then join in roundtable discussions to share ideas, and learn from one another about this important issue facing our state. A report of the event will be widely distributed.
The featured speaker will be Peter Burns, President of Burns & Associates. He has over 25 years of experience in public policy, with specialties in the areas of finance, forecasting, administration, operations, strategic planning and legislation. During his public policy career, Mr. Burns has been a senior advisor for three governors and has served as a state budget director, the director of a statewide in-house management consulting office, the chief research economist for a legislative body, and a tax manager for a FORTUNE 500 corporation.
