Reagan National Airport (DCA) – Recommended
There are two shuttle services that serve DCA: Super Shuttle and Supreme Airport Shuttle. More information can be found here. Taxis are available outside of Terminals A, B, and C. Click here to learn more about taxi rates and services. Travel time: 20 minutes.
The Metrorail (WMATA) runs to and from the airport, and can be picked up outside of Terminal B and C. The Yellow Line runs from the airport to Metro Center metro station, which connects to the Red Line. Take the Red Line north to Dupont Circle, from which the Palomar is four blocks west. Travel time: 45 minutes.
Other DC Accessible Airports:
The following two airports are a considerable distance from DC, but can be a more economical option for flights. However, ground and public transport options are limited and can incur a greater cost.
Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI)
Ground Transportation: Shuttles are available from BWI to Washington DC, and can be reserved in advance. View the map here. Travel time: 1 hour.
Public Transportation: Marc Trains run from Baltimore airport to Washington’s Union Station every day during normal working hours. The train schedule can be found here. Once at Union Station, take the Red line train to Dupont Circle, then walk four blocks to the hotel. Travel time: 1 1/2 hours.
Dulles International Airport (IAD)
Ground Transportation: Shuttle services are available next to baggage claim and can be reserved in advance. Click here for shuttle rates. Taxis also will take passengers into DC at an average rate of $50-$70. More information on taxis can be found here. Travel time: 50 minutes.
Public Transportation: The bus service runs every fifteen to twenty minutes from Dulles to Wiehle-Reston metro station on the Silver Line. The bus can be found next to the sign for Door #4 and costs $5 per person. Take the Silver Line form Wiehle-Reston into DC to the Metro Center station to transfer to the Red Line. Take the Red Line north to Dupont Circle and walk four blocks west to the Palomar. Travel time: 2 hours.
